A staff bus parked in the capital’s Madhya Badda area caught fire on Friday (September 19) night, shortly after two passenger buses were set ablaze in Mirpur.

The fire broke out in an Alif Enterprise bus at around 7:50 PM at the Madhya Badda U-loop, opposite Canadian University of Bangladesh.

A video of the incident showed flames engulfing the bus, while several people attempted to douse the fire with water.

Confirming the incident, Badda Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Hasanul said the bus caught fire while it was parked beside the road.

“It was a staff bus. We are investigating who set fire to it. Senior officials are currently at the scene,” he said.

Earlier, a passenger bus caught fire in Mirpur-11 at around 7:15 PM, followed by another incident in Mirpur-1 at approximately 7:30 PM.

The circumstances surrounding the three incidents are being investigated
