Black smoke and flames were seen near Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday, causing major disruptions to flight operations.
Flight-tracking websites reported several flight cancellations and delays, placing the airport at its maximum disruption index of 5.0.
The incident came hours after Saudi authorities issued an air-raid alert over a potential aerial threat in Riyadh and surrounding areas. The alert was later lifted.
The exact cause and location of the fire remain unclear. Saudi authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
