The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay of Bengal not to venture into the deep sea until further notice as a well-marked low-pressure area may intensify.

The department issued the warning in a special bulletin at 4:00 PM on Sunday.

According to the bulletin signed by meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque, the low-pressure area formed over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining areas became a well-marked low-pressure area at 3:00 PM on Sunday.

It is currently located over the North-Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea areas.

The system may move further west-northwest and has the potential to intensify, the Met Office said.

In view of the situation, fishing boats and trawlers currently operating in the North Bay of Bengal have been advised not to venture into the deep sea until further notice.
