Around 570 Israeli settlers enter Al-Aqsa under security

Around 570 Israeli settlers entered the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem on Sunday morning under heavy protection from Israeli forces and performed Talmudic rituals and prayers, according to the Jerusalem Governorate’s media office.
The incident came ahead of Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, which began on Sunday evening and continues until Monday evening.
The settlers gathered near the mosque before entering the compound, while Israeli forces provided security during the incursions, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.
The development came a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, several ministers and thousands of Israelis entered the Western Wall plaza in occupied East Jerusalem amid tight security.
The latest entry into Al-Aqsa took place amid heightened security measures in the Old City ahead of Yom Kippur.
