Brazil suffer injury blow ahead of Australia, India tour

Brazil have suffered another injury setback ahead of their three friendly matches against Australia and India, with right-back Wesley ruled out and Monaco defender Vanderson called up as his replacement.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed on Saturday that Wesley had been withdrawn from the squad. It did not provide details of his injury or how long he would be sidelined.

Wesley started Roma’s latest Serie A match against Inter Milan, which ended in a 2-2 draw, before the injury was reported.

The 23-year-old had also missed the 2026 World Cup after suffering a muscle injury in a warm-up match against Egypt.

Wesley’s withdrawal is the second injury-related change to Carlo Ancelotti’s 26-man squad. Chelsea forward Joao Pedro was previously ruled out and was replaced by Fluminense midfielder Matheus Martinelli.

Brazil will play Australia on September 25 and 29 at Queensland Country Bank Stadium and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane respectively. They will then face India at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on October 3.
