Pakistani RJ apologises for body-shaming Katrina Kaif

Pakistani radio jockey Ejaz Waris has apologised for comments about Katrina Kaif’s post-pregnancy appearance after Salman Khan called out the trolling on “Bigg Boss 20”.

Waris had drawn criticism after commenting on Katrina’s weight following her appearance at the Ambani Ganesh Chaturthi celebration.

Salman later addressed the criticism during “Weekend Ka Vaar”, defending Katrina and questioning why people were commenting on her appearance after she had recently become a mother, Hindustan Times reports.

Waris subsequently posted a public apology, saying he had reflected on his remarks after hearing Salman speak about them.

“From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely apologise to Katrina Kaif for my recent remarks,” he wrote.

“Body shaming was never my intention.”

Waris said he realised after watching Salman’s comments that his words may have hurt Katrina and many of her fans.

“I just joked a bit for the hook of the video, but a lot of people are hurt because of my words,” he said.

He added that he had spoken casually and without intending to body-shame Katrina, but acknowledged that the remarks had caused offence.

Waris also said the backlash had weighed on him as people around the world criticised his comments.

He later turned off comments on the post.

The controversy began after Waris reviewed celebrity looks from the Ambani Ganesh Chaturthi celebration and made remarks about Katrina’s post-pregnancy weight.

The comments drew criticism online, with Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar also speaking out in support of Katrina.

What Did Salman Khan Say?

Katrina gave birth to her and Vicky Kaushal’s son, Vihaan Kaushal, in November last year.

Speaking on “Bigg Boss 20”, Salman criticised people for commenting on her weight after pregnancy.

“Everyone puts on weight after pregnancy,” he said.

Salman added that Katrina would return to fitness when she resumed work and said she should be allowed to spend time with her family.

He also questioned why people dissatisfied with their own appearance felt entitled to comment on someone else’s looks and weight.

His remarks drew praise online from fans who welcomed his defence of Katrina.
