MP Nazrul, first wife shown arrested

The third accused in the case, driver Obaidur Rahman, remains absconding, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Media) Niaz Mehedi told reporters at a briefing at the DMP Media Centre on Monday.

The two arrested suspects are expected to be produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court after noon today.

Police said said Mariam’s father filed the case naming three people as accused. Nazrul and Maksuda have been arrested in connection with the case, while Obaidur remains at large.

Police have completed the inquest into Mariam’s death, and her body has been kept at a hospital for autopsy.

Authorities have also sent a letter concerning MP Gazi Nazrul Islam to Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, police said.

Mariam’s body was recovered on Sunday evening from a government flat allocated to Gazi Nazrul at the NAM Bhaban in Dhaka.
