Ambassador urges wider global promotion of Bangladeshi brands

Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Md Shafiqur Rahman has called for concerted efforts to expand the presence of Bangladeshi brands such as Walton in the international market.
He made the remarks as chief guest at Walton Plaza’s special programme ‘Tushar Jatra’ at The Soaltee, a five-star hotel in Kathmandu, on Saturday.
The ambassador said Walton has been making significant contributions to Bangladesh’s hi-tech sector by manufacturing international-standard technology products, reducing import dependence and saving foreign currency.
He said the company is also earning foreign currency by exporting its products to different countries.
“Bangladeshi brands like Walton should be promoted more extensively in the international market,” Shafiqur Rahman said.
He added that Bangladeshi ambassadors in different countries could help expand the global market for local brands through economic diplomacy.
S M Mahbubul Alam, Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC and Managing Partner of Walton Plaza, said Nepal is an important market for Walton.
He said the company aims to expand its operations in Nepal by building long-term relationships and mutual trust with local business partners.
“Walton is no longer just an electronics brand of Bangladesh; our goal is to establish Walton as a strong global brand,” he said.
Pranimesh Thapa, Director of Nepal’s Thapa Business Group, said the group has been working with Walton in Nepal for more than eight years and is committed to further expanding its presence across the country.
Md Rayhan, Managing Director of Walton Plaza, provided guidelines to Walton Plaza officials on modern marketing and sales management.
Mofizur Rahman Jakir, Deputy Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, and MM Nazmul Hasan, Head of Sales at Walton Plaza, also spoke at the programme.
The event was conducted by Amin Khan, Senior Executive Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC and film actor. It featured a Nepal tour video presentation, a raffle draw and cultural performances.
