How players fared in first Asian games practice match

Bangladesh’s men’s cricket team played their first practice match ahead of the Asian Games on Monday, with the squad divided into two teams at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

The Nurul Hasan Sohan-led ‘B’ team beat the Litton Das-led ‘A’ team by five wickets, reaching the target of 141 with three balls to spare.

Soumya Sarkar was the top scorer, making 61 off 44 balls with four fours and four sixes. Shariful Islam was the pick of the bowlers, taking two wickets for 18 runs in four overs.

For the ‘A’ team, Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored 55 off 46 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes. Litton Das made 32, with the pair adding 66 runs for the second wicket.

However, the ‘A’ team lost wickets quickly after the partnership. Towhid Hridoy scored 4, Yasir Ali 14 and Sheikh Mahedi 7.

Chasing 141, Naim Sheikh scored 29 off 26 balls, while Sabbir Rahman made 26 off 26. Sohan remained unbeaten on 17 off 13 balls to take his team home.

Rishad Hossain also impressed with the ball. Nasum Ahmed, Mahedi Hasan, Hasan Mahmud and Ruel each took one wicket.
