150 photographers showcase Naogaon thru 900 photos

NAOGAON, Sept 23: The Naogaon district administration has organised a photography competition to showcase the district's nature, history, heritage, people, lifestyle and potential through photographs.

Around 150 photographers from different parts of the district participated in the “Photography Competition 2026”, submitting more than 900 photographs.

Thirteen winners received certificates, crests and prize money at the closing and award ceremony held on Sunday afternoon.
Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Md Yousuf Ali inaugurated the competition.

Naogaon Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam, Police Superintendent Mohammad Tariqul Islam, Civil Surgeon Dr Md Aminul Islam and officials of different government departments attended the award ceremony.

The organisers said the competition was not limited to photographs of well-known tourist spots or historical sites in Naogaon. Instead, it aimed to portray the district's broader picture through images of people's daily lives, farmers at work, rural communities, rivers, beels, wetlands, folk culture, nature and the environment.

The initiative also sought to encourage local photography and create a platform for young, amateur and professional photographers to develop their creativity, they said.

Photographs were accepted in several categories, including nature and environment; people and lifestyle; history and heritage; rural life and folk culture; structures and tourist attractions; and rivers, beels and wetlands. There was also an open category.

Photographers from around 13 upazilas and different areas of the district participated, resulting in diverse images of Naogaon's landscape, people and culture.

The competition was announced on May 20, and photographs were accepted until June 30. After an initial screening in July, the jury conducted the final evaluation on August 2.

The judges considered creativity, aesthetics, composition, technical skill, ability to capture a moment, originality, relevance of the subject and the ability of a photograph to convey a story or message.

With more than 900 photographs submitted by around 150 photographers, the competition also highlighted the growing interest in photography in Naogaon.
