4 killed in road mishaps in two dists

Four people were killed and seven others injured in separate road accidents in Bogura District and Daulatpur Upazila of Kushtia District in two days.
BOGURA: At least three people were killed and seven others injured in separate road accidents in the district in two days.
Two people were killed and seven others injured early Thursday when a microbus collided with a maize-laden truck on the Dhaka-Bogura highway in Shajahanpur Upazila.
The accident occurred around 4 am near the Noymile bus stand area when the microbus crossed into the wrong lane and collided with the oncoming truck, according to Sherpur Highway Police Station (PS) Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ayub Ali.
The victims were identified as microbus driver Ferdous Mondal, 25, and passenger Zubaedul Islam, 30, both from Akkelpur Upazila of Joypurhat District. They died on the spot.
Police said the microbus was carrying family members returning to Joypurhat with a relative who had just arrived at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The seven injured were rescued and admitted to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Both vehicles have been seized, and legal procedures are underway, the OC added.
On the other hand, a 30-year-old man was killed on Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a speeding, unidentified microbus while crossing the Dhaka-Bogura highway.
The deceased Rubel Hossain was a resident of Khidir Hasra Village in Simabari Union of Sherpur Upazila.
The crash occurred around 5:30 pm in the Ghoga Bottola area of the upazila. Hossain succumbed to his injuries around 5:45 pm while being taken to a hospital. Family members later retrieved the body from the Chhonka Bazar area.
Sherpur Highway PS OC Ayub Ali confirmed that the police didn’t get the body in the Chhonka area. Authorities are searching for the fleeing vehicle and its driver, whose identities remain unknown, he said.
DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA: A retired Bangladesh Army soldier was killed in a collision between a motorcycle and an unauthorised three-wheeler here on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, Khandakar Ehsan Habib, 60, died on the spot near the Ansar-VDP Bank adjacent to Daulatpur Degree College, according to local police.
Daulatpur PS OC Khaledur Rahman confirmed the incident, stating that a regular case has been filed in this connection.
