Justice Debasish Roy sworn in as HC judge

Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury has taken oath as a permanent judge of the High Court Division.

Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury administered the oath at the Supreme Court’s Judges’ Lounge on Thursday in the presence of judges from the High Court and Appellate divisions.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir appointed him to the post on Monday in consultation with the chief justice under Article 95 of the Constitution, with the government subsequently issuing a gazette notification.

Roy Chowdhury was appointed an additional judge of the High Court on Oct 8, 2024.

Several additional judges appointed alongside him were made permanent in November 2025, but his confirmation was held back at the time.�"bdnews24
