Jinat Moli: Empowering women, transforming lives

Jinat Moli, an organiser and entrepreneur from Rangpur, has been working to promote women’s entrepreneurship, social welfare and humanitarian development. Alongside her corporate career and business ventures, she has remained actively involved in various social initiatives.

After completing a Master’s degree in Management, a Banking Diploma, a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and a Master of Education (M.Ed.), she held leadership positions in three corporate organisations and also worked as a teacher. She currently serves as Managing Director of Concern Limited, which is involved in businesses related to lifts, generators, substations and stock market brokerage.

Witnessing the neglect and abuse faced by many women inspired Moli to work for women’s empowerment. With this vision, she founded the Entrepreneur Group (EG) in 2019. Starting with only four or five members, the organisation has grown to around 300 offline members and nearly 8,000 online members.

EG organises an annual women’s product exhibition and sales fair at Rangpur Tourism Motel. The fair has created business opportunities and expanded market access for many women entrepreneurs. A permanent showroom at the motel also allows 40 women entrepreneurs to display and sell their products.

With support from national and international organisations, EG conducts training, workshops and skill-development programmes. It also operates a Qard Hasan (interest-free loan) programme for women entrepreneurs in collaboration with Union Bank, helping them become financially self-reliant.

The organisation also supports disadvantaged women and children. It bears the educational and related expenses of 10 orphan girls and provides counselling, mental health support, health awareness programmes and services related to hypertension and other health issues.

EG is also involved in disaster management, climate change adaptation, tree plantation, rooftop gardening and clean energy initiatives. In partnership with government agencies, NGOs and development partners, it implements projects on clean cooking, food security, nutrition, voluntary blood donation and livelihood opportunities for the transgender community.

Beyond EG, Moli is associated with UCEP Bangladesh and several development and voluntary organisations. She is a member of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is also involved with Bangladesh Rotary Synergy, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi (Rangpur), Bangladesh Jagrat Blood Donors Club, Rangpur Divisional Volunteer Alliance, Shujan and Bangladesh Betar Rangpur.

In recognition of her professional and social contributions, she has received several awards, including the Rokeya Padak-2022, Best Organiser Award-2022, Mofiz Award-2023, Alokito Nari Award-2023, Joyeeta Award, Three Star Award-2024 and Indomitable Woman Award-2024.

Alongside her social work, Moli is also involved in literary activities. Her published poetry collection is titled Bunochhaya. She says she plans to expand her work in women’s entrepreneurship, social welfare and humanitarian development in the coming years.
