Actor and model Tawsif Mahbub has established a familiar presence on Bangladesh’s television screen through dramas, music videos and short films. Away from the camera, his life follows a disciplined yet simple routine centred on prayer, fitness, work and family. In a candid conversation with The Daily Observer Life & Style, Tawsif talks about his daily routine, fitness, personal style, travel and upcoming projects.
LS: How do you usually start your day?Tawsif: I wake up with gratitude and start my day with salat, followed by a morning run. Running is my thing-I feel I need it, no matter how busy I am. If I don’t have a shoot, I go to the gym and prepare my own breakfast. It helps me feel mentally and physically ready for the day.
LS: You once described your days off as “hell.” Why?Tawsif: When I’m shooting, my entire day revolves around work. But when I’m not shooting, all the unfinished things pile up-laundry, groceries, medicines, errands and meeting people. So, my days off become catch-up days. By the end, I feel I need another day off after my day off.
LS: How do you relax after a busy shooting schedule?Tawsif: During my breaks, I don’t really consume any content. For me, a break means mentally stepping away from work. It doesn’t feel like a break if I’m still thinking about work.
I also want to thank my wife for taking care of my personal life. She handles that aspect, allowing me to focus on my media career and business. I achieved that balance by marrying her.
LS: How important are fitness, diet and self-care to you?Tawsif: Fitness is the most important thing for me. My day starts with fitness, and I believe everything I have today, and what I’ll be able to maintain in the future, depends on it. I maintain fitness like a religion.
I also try to keep my diet simple. As for self-care, I’m thankful to have people around me who love and take care of me.
LS: What grooming or skincare tip do you always follow?Tawsif: I try to maintain a proper sleep schedule. I avoid staying up late and wake up early. I believe a steady sleep routine helps keep you healthy.
LS: How would you describe your personal style?Tawsif: My personal style starts with a white or black T-shirt or shirt. I’m not very colourful in my personal life and prefer minimal colours. Whether it’s a suit or a T-shirt, I mostly wear black and white because that’s what I’m comfortable in.
LS: What is your favourite travel destination?Tawsif: Right now, my favourite travel destination is China. I’ve been there once, and I’m planning to go there again next month. I want to go there again and again because it’s so big and there’s so much for me to discover.
LS: What advice would you give young men who dream of becoming actors?Tawsif: No advice! Don’t take advice from anyone. Do what you want, what you feel like doing and what your heart says. Best wishes.
LS: What are you looking forward to?Tawsif: I have several exciting projects coming up, including OTT projects, interesting dramas, commercials and photoshoots. I’m trying to be everywhere, explore new places and discover sides of myself I haven’t explored before. I’m really enjoying this journey and hope the audience enjoys it with me.
