10 airbus to purchase after Boeing

“We are buying Airbus aircraft. We are buying 10. InshaAllah, the agreement will be signed in October,” the minister told reporters at a press briefing at the Secretariat.

His remarks came shortly after Bangladesh signed a deal with US-based Boeing to purchase 11 aircraft.

Millat said negotiations with Airbus are underway, although there is some uncertainty over the delivery schedule. The government is therefore considering several options for expanding the two of which are close to being grounded, leaving around 17 aircraft effectively operational. Several more aircraft in the existing national flag carrier’s fleet.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines currently has 19 aircraft, two of which are close to being grounded, leaving around 17 aircraft effectively operational. Several more aircraft in the existing fleet are expected to become outdated over the next few years.

The minister said the government’s fleet recently agreed 11 and an expansion plan is aimed at both addressing immediate operational needs and ensuring long-term growth.

Bangladesh has already signed agreements with Boeing for 25 aircraft in total, including the recently agreed 11 and an earlier order for 14.
