Six more people have died of dengue and 1,942 new patients have been hospitalised across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest deaths have raised the dengue death toll this year to 239. September has recorded 142 deaths so far, the highest monthly toll this year.

The DGHS bulletin said 1,751 patients were discharged from hospitals during the same period, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 72,008.

With the latest admissions, the number of dengue patients hospitalised this year has reached 77,672.

Dhaka division recorded the highest number of new admissions, followed by Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Rangpur.
