3-nation meeting planned over Saudi attacks

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye are planning an emergency meeting to discuss support for Riyadh under the Mecca Defence Pact. The three countries’ military chiefs may attend the meeting.

Reuters reported that the meeting is being planned after Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh said its air defence systems intercepted six ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis toward Taif and Yanbu on Thursday.

Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan signed the Mecca pact on August 7 to strengthen joint deterrence and defence cooperation. Under the pact, an attack on any one of the three countries will be considered an attack on all three.
