Rodri wants Ballon d’Or to go to Spanish player

Last year’s Ballon d’Or winner Rodri has been nominated again but believes the winner will be decided by performances and votes from 100 journalists.

The Spanish midfielder said he would like to see a fellow Spanish player win the award, highlighting Spain’s World Cup triumph and the performances of his teammates.

Rodri is among six Spanish nominees, alongside Marc Cucurella, Pau Cubarsi, Fabian Ruiz, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres.

He said every nominee has a strong case but stressed that football is a team sport and individual awards often reflect collective success.
