Abrar dethrones Rashid to become No.1 in T20I

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has dethroned Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan to become the world’s No. 1 bowler in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings for the first time in his career.

Abrar reached the summit with 736 rating points, one ahead of Rashid, who slipped to second place in the latest rankings released on Wednesday (September 23). Australia’s Adam Zampa moved up to third with 700 points.

The 28-year-old has played 38 T20Is for Pakistan and taken 133 international wickets across formats. He has also taken 15 T20I wickets in nine matches this year.

Abrar becomes only the fifth Pakistani bowler to reach the top of the T20I rankings, following Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Imad Wasim and Shahid Afridi.
