Moyeen sees potential for skilled BD youths in Japan 

 
Local Government, Rural Development Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan said on Saturday that, Bangladesh and Japan have scope to deepen their long-standing partnership by linking Bangladesh’s young workforce with Japan’s growing demand for skilled workers.

Speaking as the chief guest at the Japan-Bangladesh Partnership Seminar 2026 at the Diploma Engineers Institution auditorium in Kakrail, Dhaka, he said, Japan has a large elderly population, while Bangladesh has a comparatively large young and working-age population.

He said the two countries could use this difference to create more employment opportunities for Bangladeshi youth in Japan.

The minister said Bangladesh and Japan have long enjoyed friendly relations and there is scope to take bilateral cooperation to a new level.

He said greater cooperation in manpower could benefit both countries.

For Bangladesh, employment opportunities in Japan could improve the living standards of young people, he said.

At the same time, Bangladeshi workers could contribute to different sectors of the Japanese economy, including the service sector.

Moyeen Khan stressed the importance of Japanese language skills for Bangladeshi youths seeking jobs in Japan.

He said young people need to improve their Japanese language proficiency along with their professional skills.

The minister added that the government would consider establishing specialised educational institutions for Japanese language training if necessary.
