The Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah issued a urgent advisory on Monday (September 28), urging Bangladeshi expatriates living in Saudi Arabia to strictly abide by local laws and regulations.
In the official notice, the consulate instructed expats to refrain from creating, posting, liking, commenting on, or sharing any content on social media platforms—including Facebook, YouTube, and X—that goes against the laws, public order, or security of Saudi Arabia or Bangladesh.
The advisory warned nationals against signing or placing fingerprints on documents without thoroughly reading them, explicitly prohibiting the signing of blank papers.
Expatriates were further advised against using their residency permits (Iqama) to purchase SIM cards, vehicles, or other assets for third parties.
The consulate highlighted that working under a different sponsor or at an unauthorized workplace, selling picked-up items, conducting unlicensed businesses, or illegally selling water constitute punishable offenses under Saudi law.
Additionally, the notice cautioned expats against participating in illegal financial transactions and falling prey to fraudulent job offers, emphasizing that compliance with local regulations ensures individual safety and protects the nation's image abroad.
