Not to ignore any warning signals of cardiac: Health Minister

''Among non-communicable diseases, heart disease causes the highest number of deaths.''

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a discussion organised by the Bangladesh Cardiac Society at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka on Tuesday to mark World Heart Day. 

Sakhawat said people understand the importance of awareness and recognise the need to remain vigilant, but often fail to translate that awareness into action in their daily lives.

Such complacency can be particularly dangerous in the case of heart disease, he said, urging people to seek medical advice promptly if they experience any warning signs or symptoms.

''Any signal or warning from the heart should not be ignored.''

According to the minister, stronger public awareness would make disease prevention and control efforts more effective.

He also said many heart-related conditions can be prevented through a healthy lifestyle and timely medical care.
