‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ getting theatrical re-release

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to return to theatres with new footage, though details of the additional scenes and a re-release date have not yet been announced.

The Tom Holland-led superhero film, released on July 31, has grossed $950.6 million in North America, putting it within reach of the $1 billion domestic box-office milestone.

On September 16, the film surpassed “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to become the highest-grossing domestic film of all time. “The Force Awakens” had held the record since 2015 with $936 million in North American ticket sales.

“Brand New Day” follows Peter Parker as he tries to rebuild his life after a spell causes his friends and family to forget who he is.

The film also stars Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman and Florence Pugh. Destin Daniel Cretton directed the film from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
