6 more die of dengue 

Six people died of dengue and 1,942 were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest deaths, the number of dengue fatalities this year has risen to 239, according to government figures. Of them, 142 died in September, the highest monthly death toll recorded this year.

The DGHS said in its bulletin on Tuesday that 178 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation areas and 229 in Dhaka South City Corporation areas during the 24 hours from 8am Monday. Another 378 were admitted to hospitals in other parts of Dhaka division.

Among other divisions, 213 patients were admitted in Barishal, 301 in Chattogram, 264 in Khulna, 120 in Mymensingh, 197 in Rajshahi, 56 in Rangpur and six in Sylhet.
