A seminar titled “Career Opportunities in Industrial Automation and PLC Technology” and the handing over of automation training kits by Mitsubishi Electric were organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur.
The seminar was held today, Thursday (October 1, 2026), in collaboration with the Bangladesh branch of Setsuyo Astec Corporation (a company of Mitsubishi Electric Group, Japan) and Progressive Engineering Corporation. Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Engr. Ruma attended the event as the chief guest at the seminar room of the university's Shahid Abu Sayed Administrative Building.
In her speech, Chief Guest Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Engr. Ruma said, “DUET aims to develop skilled human resources through hands-on training to meet the growing demands of the industrial sector. Today’s seminar will play a vital role in achieving this goal. The state-of-the-art training kits provided by Mitsubishi Electric will allow students to gain practical experience alongside their theoretical knowledge.
As industries undergo rapid transformation driven by Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, these resources will empower students to prepare themselves for successful careers and engage in automation research.” Expressing her gratitude to the collaborating organizations, she envisioned strengthening the existing industry-academia collaboration through an even deeper bond with DUET.
Chaired by Head of the EEE Department Professor Dr. Mohammad Zakir Hossain, the event featured President and CEO of Setsuyo Astec Corporation, Mr. Masahiro Fujisawa, as the Guest of Honor.
Special guests included Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, EEE Department Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Abedin, Senior Director of the Japan-Bangladesh External Trade Organization Sheikh Md. Shariful Alam, Chief Representative of Setsuyo Astec Corporation Bangladesh Yusuke Imagawa, and Managing Director of Progressive Engineering Corporation M. N. Amin.
Following the seminar, Mitsubishi Electric officially handed over the automation training kits to the EEE Department. Faculty members and students of the EEE Department were present at the event.
