
A “Cashless Bangladesh” promotional campaign was held on Thursday at Banani Kacha Bazar in Dhaka to promote digital payments and raise public awareness about Bangla QR.
Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Minister for Finance and Planning, inaugurated the programme as the chief guest. Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan, Managing Director and CEO of Dutch-Bangla Bank, was also present at the campaign, according to a press release.
During the campaign, the minister made a purchase using Bangla QR through Dutch-Bangla Bank’s app. The programme was organised by Bangladesh Bank in association with Dutch-Bangla Bank.
The minister highlighted Bangla QR as a fully encrypted and secure payment platform and urged people to support the government’s vision of building a “Cashless Bangladesh.” He said all transactions through Bangla QR under the initiative would be completely free of charge.
He added that people would no longer need to carry cash and that the payment process would become easier and faster.
