The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported that 14 more people died of measles symptoms and dengue across the country in the 24 hours from 8am Friday to 8am Saturday.
During the same period, 1,152 people were newly diagnosed with suspected or confirmed measles. In addition, 1,608 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
According to the DGHS measles-related release on Saturday, eight were died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours. From March 15 to October 3, a total of 1,122 people have died with measles and it like symptoms.
A total of 1,109 people were identified with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of people identified with measles symptoms between March 15 and the morning of October 3 to 195,197.
The number of confirmed measles cases in the past 24 hours was 43, while the total number of confirmed cases during the period stood at 21,666.
According to the DGHS dengue-related release, six people died of dengue in the past 24 hours. Of the deceased, two each was reported in DSCC and Rajshahi division while one each in Barishal and Khulna division. The number of dengue deaths this year has now reached 256.
A total of 1,608 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of dengue cases recorded this year to 84,369.
Chattogram division recorded the highest number of new cases, with 319, followed by Khulna division with 276.
So far this year, 78,482 dengue patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
