The government has reshuffled 24 senior police officers across various units of the force.
The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued separate notifications signed by Deputy Secretary Tausif Ahmed on Sunday to effect the transfers.
The officers affected by the move include three Deputy Inspectors General (DIG), 12 Additional DIGs, and nine Superintendents of Police (SP).
According to the order, Special Response Unit (SRU) DIG Dr Md Akkas Uddin Bhuiyan and Special Branch (SB) DIG Md Mahmudur Rahman have been posted to the Police Staff College. Criminal Investigation Department (CID) DIG Mohammad Hasan Bari Noor has been transferred to the Mass Rapid Transit (Metrorail) police unit.
Among the SP-rank officers, CID SP ATM Mosharraf Hossain and DMP Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Mohammad Farhad were transferred as DCs to the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP). Police Staff College SP Mahbubul Alam was made Special SP of CID, while SP Mohammad Humayun Kabir was moved to the Tourist Police.
Besides, SB SP Ashrafuzzaman and CMP DC Kabir Ahmed were transferred to the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) as DCs. PBI SP Yasmin Khatun was reassigned to the SB, Police Headquarters AIG Nishat Angela to the Tourist Police, and BMP DC Mohammad Imdad Hossain to the SRU.
In separate postings, Rangpur Range SP Mohammad Jahangir Hossain was made KMP DC, CMP DC Sheikh Shariful Islam was appointed Commandant of the Sherpur In-Service Training Centre, and KMP DC MM Shakiluzzaman was transferred to the Mymensingh Range DIG office. Barishal Range SP Dr Md Saifuzzaman Bin Anwar was posted to the Police Headquarters.
The Home Ministry stated that the order was issued in the public interest and takes immediate effect.
