A fire broke out at a jhut (garment waste) godown in the Majukhan area under Gazipur City Corporation on Sunday (October 4) afternoon, with three fire service units working to bring the flames under control.
The blaze originated around 1:30 PM in a jhut storage facility. Upon noticing the flames rapidly spreading through flammable materials inside the premises, local residents initially attempted to extinguish the fire before alerting authorities.
On receiving information, three firefighting units rushed to the scene and launched operations to contain the blaze. Local residents noted that the presence of combustible textile waste accelerated the fire's spread across different sections of the godown.
Firefighting personnel are currently spraying water to douse the flames. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and no casualties have been reported so far.
Fire officials stated that the exact cause of the incident and the extent of financial damage will be assessed once the situation is fully brought under control.
