A Dhaka University (DU) student was injured after falling from the ninth floor of a university hall building and landing on a tin-shed roof below early Monday, which may have helped prevent more serious injuries, according to hall students’ union Vice-President Pallob Chandra Barman.

Bidipto Shikto, a student of the Development Studies Department from the 2025"26 academic session, fell from the ninth floor of the Santosh Chandra Bhattacharya Bhaban at around 1am on Monday. Witnesses said he was subsequently rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Pallob said the tin-shed roof likely helped cushion the fall and spared Shikto from a serious head injury.

“Scans including X-ray, ECG and MRI came back clear, with no fractures found so far,” he said.
