Inqilab Mancha has announced a 36-day ‘March for Justice’ from Banglabandha in Tetulia to Zero Point in Teknaf, seeking justice and state accountability and to realise the aspirations of the July Mass Uprising.
The announcement was made at an exchange meeting at Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah Hall of the National Press Club on Monday, attended by representatives of political, social and cultural organisations, writers, activists, participants in the July mass uprising and families of martyrs.
The programme will begin on Oct 7 and end at Zero Point in Teknaf, the country’s southernmost point.
Inqilab Mancha Convener Abdullah Al Jaber presided over the meeting, moderated by Member Secretary Fatema Tasnim Juma.
Organisers said the campaign would seek to connect directly with people across the country through marches, street-corner meetings and rallies, while building public support for justice and a democratic state.
The march will enter Dhaka from North Bengal before heading towards the eastern region. On Oct 21, it will hold a rally at Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi Chattar in Shahbagh.
The programme has three demands: ensuring justice for the killing of martyr Sharif Osman Hadi; implementing the ‘July Charter’ in line with the public mandate; and ensuring justice for the mass killings of July, Pilkhana and Shapla.
Speakers said a fair, impartial and speedy investigation into the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, followed by exemplary punishment for those responsible, had become a national demand.
They called on people from all walks of life to join the ‘March for Justice’ and pursue the demands from their respective positions.
