
GAZIPUR, Oct 6: A two-day seminar has begun under the initiative of the Liberation War Research Centre of Bangladesh Open University (BOU).
The inaugural session was held at the Teachers' Conference Hall of BOU's Gazipur campus at 9:30 am on Monday.
The seminar was inaugurated by the special guest, BOU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Anisur Rahman. In his inaugural speech, he said that since its establishment, BOU has been giving importance to various knowledge-building activities including research, seminars and symposiums alongside institutional education.
The current administration has taken various initiatives to further strengthen these activities. In continuation of this, there are plans to expand the activities of the Liberation War Research Centre and include Bangladesh Studies in the future.
He said that through this, the scope of research on various subjects based on the history, tradition and sociology of Bangladesh as well as the Liberation War will be further expanded.
Congratulating those concerned for organising the first seminar under the initiative of the Liberation War Research Centre after almost a decade, he urged them to complete the ongoing research projects of the centre quickly. Referring to the direct memories and emotions of the Liberation War, he expressed his interest in being involved in the research activities of the centre in the future as well.
The seminar was chaired and moderated by Professor Dr Rafsan Mahmud, Director of the Liberation War Research Centre of BOU. In his speech, he discussed in detail the extent of political, social and economic losses during the Great Liberation War, the war tactics of the freedom fighters and its far-reaching impact during and after the Liberation War.
