The government will establish ‘Shishu Swarga’ centres in 22 districts this fiscal year to provide integrated treatment and rehabilitation for around 350,000 children with cerebral palsy, Health State Minister Dr MA Muhit has said.
He made the announcement at a World Cerebral Palsy Day programme at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital (NINS) in Agargaon on Tuesday. State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahmed Sohel Manzur attended the event as a special guest.
Dr Muhit said research data showed that around 350,000 children in Bangladesh have cerebral palsy, but only 3,300 received treatment at NINS’s outpatient department last year.
