Punishment for killers of shop-worker demanded

GOPALGANJ, Oct 7: Relatives and residents formed a human chain in Ulpur of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on Monday, demanding the arrest of and exemplary punishment for those accused of killing Imam Reza, a young man from the area.

The demonstration was held at Ulpur Bazar around 11 am on Monday, with relatives of Reza and local residents taking part.

Police recovered Reza’s body on September 30 from an abandoned rice mill in Ulpur. He was found hanging by a belt from a window. Reza worked at a sari shop in Gopalganj town.

His relatives allege that he was murdered and his body was subsequently hung to make it appear otherwise.
They also said the body bore signs of injuries and blood.
