Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir visited Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL) in Patenga, Chattogram, on Thursday afternoon (October 8).
During the visit, he inspected the facility’s infrastructure, ship repair and construction activities, and overall operations. He stressed the need to enhance its capacity and technical expertise.
According to a CDDL press release, the company has repaired 1,036 local and foreign vessels and built pontoons for various public and private organisations.
Established in 1985, CDDL was handed over to the Bangladesh Navy in 2015 to revive its operations. The company is also working to develop its capacity to build modern warships, including frigates, in line with the government’s “Made in Bangladesh” policy.
