Actress Adhora Khan has withdrawn from the film ‘Violence’, directed by Kamal Hossain Babor, accusing the filmmaker of unprofessional behaviour and poor communication.
The film, an international production, was scheduled to be shot in Canada. Actors Zayed Khan and Shirin Shila were also expected to star in the project.
In a lengthy social media post on Sunday (October 11), Adhora explained her decision to leave the film, saying she had withdrawn long ago. She said she decided to clarify her position in response to questions from fans, well-wishers and journalists, as no official announcement had been made by the parties concerned.
Adhora said, she stepped away from the project because of the director’s unprofessional conduct and a lack of proper communication. She added that she had informed the relevant parties of her decision but no formal announcement followed.
Explaining her long silence, the actress said she did not want her comments to negatively affect the film’s shooting or the work of her co-stars and crew members.
However, she claimed that remaining silent had cost her financially and professionally.
According to Adhora, waiting for ‘Violence’ prevented her from accepting several important international projects, including opportunities in Hollywood. She said contractual confidentiality obligations prevented her from disclosing details of those projects.
She also claimed that she received warnings from her casting director and agency for failing to maintain schedules and professional commitments because of the film.
Adhora expressed further frustration over communication regarding the shooting schedule, saying the production team attempted to contact her only one day before her scheduled shoot.
The actress said, she had joined ‘Violence’ out of her love for Bangla cinema, but the experience would serve as a major lesson in her career.
She described joining the project without giving sufficient consideration to professionalism, communication and mutual respect as one of her biggest career mistakes.
