All flights from Dhaka to Riyadh have been suspended until further notice following the suspension of flight operations at Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport, said the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) on Sunday.
In an emergency press release issued this morning, the aviation regulator confirmed the suspension in response to the situation at the Saudi airport.
Earlier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines announced that its scheduled Dhaka-Riyadh-Dhaka flights, BG339 and BG340, would remain suspended until further notice following the halt in operations at King Khalid International Airport.
Passengers booked on the affected flights have been advised not to go to the airport.
Biman expressed regret over the sudden disruption and the inconvenience caused to passengers and their family members. Affected travellers can contact the airline’s call centre for immediate assistance or visit their nearest Biman sales office.
The airline said it was monitoring the situation and would issue an official update on the flights’ status and revised schedules on Sunday.
The disruption follows a reported Houthi missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday afternoon that left at least 12 people dead and 309 injured, including two Bangladeshi nationals.
Airport operations were temporarily suspended following the attack, disrupting air connectivity and raising concerns among travellers flying between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
