Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that students who fail in up to two subjects in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, will be given another opportunity to sit for the failed subjects within 15 days.
The minister announced the plan on Tuesday morning while responding to questions from journalists after inaugurating a training programme for the 49th Bangladesh Civil Service (Education) cadre at the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development in Bogura.
He said students who fail the second examination will be offered technical training opportunities.
The initiative aims to provide students with another chance to pass their examinations while also creating alternative pathways for those who struggle to succeed through the conventional academic system.
The education minister also announced plans to reintroduce moral education from Class Four to address what he described as the social and moral degradation of students.
He said the government intended to strengthen students’ ethical and social values through renewed emphasis on moral education in schools.
Milon added that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was also emphasising technical and vocational training as part of broader efforts to improve the country's education system.
The proposed measures signal an approach that combines a second chance in public examinations with technical skills development and greater emphasis on ethical education.
Further details on the implementation of the 15-day re-examination arrangement, including examination schedules and eligibility requirements, were not provided in the announcement.
