FIFA President may transit through Dhaka on Sunday

FIFA President Gianni Infantino may make a brief transit stop in Bangladesh on Sunday while travelling to Thimphu, Bhutan.

Infantino recently met Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal and executive member Imtiaz Hamid Sobuj during the FIFA ASEAN Cup in Indonesia two weeks ago.

The BFF is yet to confirm whether Infantino will transit through Bangladesh, as flights to Thimphu do not all operate directly. The federation is making necessary preparations.

BFF General Secretary visited the Foreign Ministry on Saturday to discuss arrangements for expedited immigration and other formalities if Infantino transits through Bangladesh. If he stays in the airport’s VIP zone, the BFF president and vice-presidents may meet him.
