Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Dilip Kumar Agarwala, managing director of Diamond World, from the capital’s Banani area in connection with a case filed with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
DB chief Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest to bdnews24.com on Monday evening, saying Agarwala was detained around 6PM at the CID’s request in connection with a case filed with the agency. He did not disclose further details about the case.
Agarwala was previously arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on September 3, 2024, following allegations of gold and diamond smuggling, fraud, forgery and money laundering after the fall of the Awami League government.
He was later shown arrested in a murder case over the killing of a teenager, Hridoy Ahmed, in Dhaka’s Badda area during the quota reform movement. He was subsequently released on bail.
