A low-pressure area has formed over the southeastern Bay of Bengal and may intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said.

Satellite data suggest the system is likely to move west-northwest towards the coasts of India's Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. However, the department is monitoring its exact track and intensity.

The weather is expected to remain mainly dry across Bangladesh for now, with no significant storm or rainfall likely. Rain may begin in some areas of Chattogram, Khulna and Barishal divisions from Sunday (October 25), with rainfall likely to increase across the country over the following five days.

As the low-pressure system gains strength, the sea is gradually becoming rougher. The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen and fishing trawlers to avoid venturing into the deep sea, particularly in the central Bay of Bengal, where conditions are becoming risky.
