Israeli forces have arrested Sheikh Khaled Abu Jumaa, a preacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.
He was detained shortly after leading Friday prayers on Friday (October 23). Israeli authorities have not provided a specific explanation for his arrest.
The information was reported by the Jerusalem Governorate's media office.
According to the report, Israeli security forces surrounded Sheikh Abu Jumaa and took him away after Friday prayers ended at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Israeli authorities have not immediately issued an official statement clarifying whether he faces any specific charges.
Israeli restrictions on Palestinian worshippers and religious figures at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, along with arrests, have long been a source of international concern.
