Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is in good health but remains out of public view for security reasons, an Iranian diplomat has said.
Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, a representative of Iran’s supreme leader, told NDTV that Khamenei was working normally and had recently held a seven-hour meeting with President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Khamenei has not appeared publicly since reports that he was injured in US-Israeli airstrikes that killed his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on February 28. His prolonged absence has raised questions about his health and leadership.
Ilahi said security concerns were preventing Khamenei from appearing in public, adding that the supreme leader continued to oversee major decisions behind the scenes.
