Aamir Khan was reportedly the initial target of a planned attack by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but investigators believe the plot was changed at the last moment and Tiger Shroff was targeted instead because he appeared in public more frequently.
According to media reports citing the Mumbai Crime Branch investigation, several high-profile Bollywood actors, including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan, were also allegedly under surveillance as part of the broader targeting plan.
Investigators reportedly found that Aamir had been threatened over his personal life and his alleged promotion of what the group described as “love jihad”. The gang had reportedly issued threats against the actor earlier in July as well.
However, the alleged attackers shifted their focus to Tiger because Aamir rarely appeared in public, while Tiger was seen outside more frequently, according to reports.
An NDTV report said threats had been posted through a social media account allegedly operating in the names of Tyson Bishnoi and Arju Bishnoi, who were linked in the post to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The post threatened action against celebrities whom it accused of promoting activities contrary to its stated religious and cultural beliefs.
Meanwhile, police arrested a 22-year-old man from Indore on Saturday in connection with the shooting targeting Tiger. The total number of arrests in the case has reached 11, according to the report.
The investigation is continuing as authorities examine the alleged conspiracy, the suspects’ roles and the reported surveillance of Bollywood personalities.
