Trump allies float Nicki Minaj for press secretary

Speculation has emerged over whether rapper Nicki Minaj could become the next White House press secretary after a senior Trump administration official jokingly suggested she could be a candidate for the role.

Minaj, who has expressed support for US President Donald Trump, appeared alongside him at a rally in Michigan on Sunday.

The speculation began after White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a video of Minaj aboard Air Force One, praising Trump’s economic and foreign policies.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have just found our new White House press secretary,” Cheung wrote on X alongside the video.

The official White House account responded with an eyes emoji, while Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz joined the discussion by asking Minaj’s fans, known as Barbz, what they thought of the idea.

Minaj also responded to Cheung’s post with US flag and smiling-face emojis but did not clarify whether she was interested in the position.

According to US media outlet TMZ, there has been no indication that Minaj is being formally considered for the job. No official announcement has been made regarding any appointment.

Minaj has voiced strong support for Trump, saying she feels honoured to work with the president. She has credited him with inspiring renewed enthusiasm among Americans and offering hope for a brighter future for children.

However, her public support for Trump and the online discussion do not confirm that she will be appointed White House press secretary.

For now, the speculation appears to stem from a lighthearted remark by a Trump administration official and reactions on social media. Whether Minaj will ever take questions from journalists in the White House briefing room remains unclear.
