Yemeni government forces say they have repelled a Houthi attack on the western front of Taiz, following clashes that began in the morning near the city’s old airport and the Madarat area.
In a statement, the armed forces of Yemen’s internationally recognised government said the Houthis suffered casualties and lost equipment during the fighting.
The government forces, backed by Saudi Arabia, also said warplanes struck Houthi fighters, combat vehicles and a missile launchpad to the west, south and east of Taiz, including areas near Jabal Han and al-Janad.
The forces’ air defences also shot down a Houthi drone over the western front, according to the statement.
