Students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) blocked the China-Maitree signal in Agargaon, Dhaka, again on Sunday, demanding the return of the university’s former research field, previously used as the venue for the Dhaka International Trade Fair.
As part of their ongoing movement, the students marched out of the campus and gathered at the China-Maitree signal around noon. They blocked the intersection at around 12:15PM, disrupting traffic on the road.
The students have been protesting for several days, demanding the return of the former trade fair ground to the university. They have already staged several programmes to reclaim the field.
Earlier, on Thursday (October 29), the students blocked the same signal, bringing traffic to a halt for around 20 minutes.
The students said the former research field was the university’s own property and should be returned for agricultural education and research. They also vowed to continue their movement until the field is restored to the university.
