Petrobangla has announced that the gas supply across the country will fall by 320 million cubic feet per day from November 4 due to emergency maintenance at Summit LNG terminal in Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar.
As a result, regasified LNG supply to the national grid will drop to 600mmcfd from the current 920mmcfd, potentially causing low pressure at consumer ends across the country during the period.
In a press release issued on Sunday, Petrobangla said regasification operations at the terminal would remain suspended from 8:00am on November 4 until 4:00pm on November 7.
Bangladesh currently has two floating storage and regasification units, with a combined regasification capacity of 1,100mmcfd. One is run by Summit and another one is operated by US company Excellerate Energy.
Petrobangla said similar maintenance work had been carried out in December 2025.
Petrobangla is supplying around 2,520 mmcfd plus minus gas to the national grid, of which domestic sources accounted for 1,578mmcfd and imported LNG for 942mmcfd, or around 37.4 per cent.
The state-owned corporation expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to consumers.
