A Dhaka court has set December 8 as the new deadline for submitting the investigation report in the murder case filed over the death of iconic film actor Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar Emon, popularly known as Salman Shah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana fixed the date on Thursday (November 5) after the investigating officer failed to submit the report on the originally scheduled date.
The case involves 11 accused individuals, including the late actor's wife, Samira Haque, her mother Latifa Haque Lutfu, alias Lucy, and actor Ashraf Uddin Don, following allegations of a premeditated murder plot.
Court prosecution department sub-inspector Wazed Ali confirmed the development.
Previously, on May 20, the investigating officer petitioned the court to allow the exhumation of the actor's remains in the presence of an executive magistrate to uncover the true cause of death. The court granted permission on May 24 for exhumation, inquest report preparation, and autopsy, though the plaintiff's camp initially filed an application seeking to cancel the exhumation order.
Subsequently, on June 22, Additional District Magistrate of Sylhet Pinky Saha was appointed as the executive magistrate to oversee the exhumation proceedings, with compliance documents submitted to the court.
