Iran claims US forces retreated 1,000km from its borders

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that US forces have moved 1,000 kilometres farther away from their previous positions near Iran’s borders following the latest conflict between the two countries.

Ali Fadavi, a senior IRGC commander and head of its commanders’ advisory council, made the claim on Friday, November 6.

He said US forces had been forced to retreat due to Iran’s resistance. According to Fadavi, since the war began on February 28, American troops and their military equipment have moved to positions 1,000 kilometres farther from where they were previously stationed near Iran’s borders.

“Whenever US forces have tried to approach our borders, we have resisted, helping keep them at a distance,” he said.

Fadavi also claimed that Washington had failed to force the Iranian people to give in to its pressure despite imposing economic sanctions on the country.

He said the sanctions had not weakened the Iranian people’s resolve or forced them to abandon their objectives.

Meanwhile, US broadcaster Fox News reported that Washington could launch an attack on Iran on the night of November 9.

According to the report, the possible date was discussed during a meeting between President Donald Trump and his national security advisers on Thursday.
